Update on my life xP

I just returned back from soccer training(: I finally realised how serious Orchard Road flooding really is. The pitch was so muddy and wet you should've seen how my white pants looked(:

This is retarded. World Cup is screwed. France and Italy, runner-up and champions in Germany 2006, out of the WC? Ghana in quarter finals? Man, I just checked out Japan's top free kick taker and found out he's better than Xavi, Gerrard and other top set piece takers. I wouldn't be surprised if the final two teams are Slovakia vs Ghana.

Tired like hell now, finished all my homework(: Gotta pack my bag for tmr's school opening. Seeya guys(:

World Cup Special

Expert Analyst Teo Yong Kang has a special interview with Jenkins Chng. He has a passion for football and has a interesting view about the World Cup 2010 in South Africa so far and has shared with us his opinion.

What do you think about the price all Singaporeans have to pay to watch the World Cup? After watching about 20 of the World Cup matches, do you think the price you paid to watch the World Cup is going to be worth it?

He replied: "The price is ridiculously high, and considering the number of goals scored so far, this is the most expensive sports subscription to date if you calculate that based on the ratio of goals to subscription rate. Obviously, for the reason said above, the price will not be worth it."

Subcribers to Singtel to watch the World Cup have complained that there is a few seconds lag when they watch the World Cup matches comparing with Starhub subcribers. Is that a reasonable claim or just a gimmick to get their money back?

He replied: "I am not a Singtel subcriber, but it is a norm to have a second or two delay, especially if you are dealing with IP TV screening. Of course this minor shortcoming would be easy overlooked if there are more richness in the programme offering such as multimedia, which is the capability that IP TV can provide. Unfortunately this is not the case, so it is a substandard at a overly priced plan.'

Many footballers are blaming their mediocre performance due to two main reasons: The fans with their vuvuzuelas and the match ball, the Jabulani. Rob Green of England, Iker Casillas of Spain and others have all either crumpled in the hands of the Jabulani or have critisised the ball. Also, Patrice Evra, captain of France, Cristiano Ronaldo, captain of Portugal, and others have critisised the vuvuzuelas for being overly disturbing and therefore performed badly. Others have even maligned the vuvuzuelas as a distraction to the other nations as South Africa are the only team who are unaffected by the noise. What is your take on this?

He replied: "While these are valid concerns, as professional footballers, one should not be affected by these factors, but instead should work to overcome these challenges. If players like Messi and Nigerian goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama can remain unaffected by these alleged problems, I don't see why the rest can't do the same. At the end of the day, it is these unexpected situations that differentiates a world class player from a mediocre individual."

2010 Fifa World Cup South Africa

The 2010 Fifa World Cup South Africa has gotten off to a disappointing start. Today, expert analyst Teo Yong Kang gives his views on the various ups and downs of the 2010 Fifa World Cup on african soil for the first time.

In Group A, South Africa played and drew 1-1 with Mexico and lost 2-0 to Uruguay. In a group with France, Mexico and Uruguay, the hosts would realistically be booted out in the group stages. Not even the heroic saves of South African goalkeeper Khume and the prowess of Steven Pienaar can save South Africa's dream of getting past the group stages now. France, ironically, realistically should be topping Group A but are sitting behind Uruguay(6 pts) and Mexico(4 pts) with just a single point after drawing Uruguay 1-1 before losing to Mexico by two goals to nil.

In group B, Argentina has cruised past Nigeria and South Korea with a 1-0 and a 4-1 win respectively. The Nigeria goalkeeper was heroic and made a handful of wonderful reflex saves but could not save a bullet header by Gabriel Heinze. South Korea won Greece by 2-0 before losing to Argentina 4-1 but are second in the table. Greece are not far behind after winning a subdued Nigerian side and are third in the table with three points, the same as South Korea. Nigeria sit at the bottom of the table with no points.

Long week seh..

Heyy, I'm back. This is gonna be a long post, as it has been a long week.

This week has been a long and in some ways, tiring and worrying week. It started on Tuesday, when my grandfather was admitted to Changi General Hospital. Anyone who wants to know the details can ask me personally. He had a stroke and could not move his right body due to damage of the left brain. Neurologists confirmed that the damage to his brain was quite huge and as a result, he had a serious stroke. The stroke was due to high blood pressure and as he had been telling us, his family members, that he was very healthy and all, we did not pay too much attention to the fact that he had high blood pressure and wasn't taking his medicine regularly.

He was admitted to the acute stroke ward, which is a ward specially for stroke patients. On the first day, he wasn't conscious for the bulk of the day. But on the second day, he could actually open his eyes. I do not know if he actually could recognize me, but I prayed and hoped that he would be all right eventually.

On Thursday, the third day he was at CGH, I am not sure but I think he managed to be able to sit up and looked better. His conscious level was still not high as yet. But on the fourth and fifth day, his conscious level was on a high. The doctors who came to check him said that he could transfer to the normal ward if his conscious level remained status quo.

I was made personal assistant therapist (This is a joke) to my grandfather. I taught him to put his thumbs up or down depending on whether he wanted something or not. I made him some placards and he was able to relate his situation to us. Somehow, his favorite cards were "bored" and "comfortable". He started reading the newspaper, which was a encouraging sight as the stroke had damaged his communication and understanding skills. Reading of the newspapers meant that he was slowly getting his understanding skills back.

One thing was a joke, though. The acute stroke ward was a so called classless ward. This does not mean that it has no class and everybody has to pay the same price; it simply meant that you pay more or less, depending on what you are comparing with, to stay in the same ward with other people which could be paying less. Then, once you can be admitted to a normal ward, then the class you are paying takes place.

He was soon transferred to a normal class B1 ward. The physios came to look at him and said that he is improving quite well. The normal ward has a TV for every patient, which is good and can keep him occupied. He can now move his right leg a little, make himself comfortable and sit on a chair and read newspapers himself, including the turning of the pages. Just today, he was changed to a class A ward, which has a TV as well. One thing different is that in the class A ward, he has the whole room to himself and does not have to share rooms with others.

Hope he gets well soon. Will post some pictures of him tomorrow.

AWESOME DAY

Okay, the title's a little bit misleading and sarcastic.

I got a surprise today at assembly - LAB was choosing me to go for some Student Council Conference. I dunno wad I'm supposed to do, but it's in the hols. 3rd June, 7.30am to 5.30pm. Anything that's gonna do with SC, I tell them, I'm in.

Yeah, so, if the story ends like that it doesn't fit the title. Well, Mrs Khairul "saw" me and Sufy fidgeting too much, so she SCOLDED us and almost punished us. Then, AB came in. I thought she saving us sia. She took the consent form away from me and said she didn't think I behave so badly when she gave me the form. WTF sia.. Got mosquito right.. and sweating like hell...

So you probably think I'm a gay or something. That's what you think. BUT, THE POINT IS, I GOT SCOLDED AND PUNISHED FOR NOTHING. Sian.
